What to expect from Clinical Hypnotherapy:
While you sit in a comfortable chair, you will be guided into
a safe and controlled
feeling of total relaxation by asking you to imagine certain
things.
The state of clinical hypnosis is, quite simply, a state of
more relaxed but also
highly focused awareness in which your subconscious mind is
more receptive to positive suggestion.
Perhaps you’ve become really absorbed in an activity
- watching TV, gardening or a good book - only to realise
that you’ve lost all track of time? These are all examples
of a kind of everyday hypnotic or ‘trance’-like
state. Some people describe it as the best relaxation they
have ever had!
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes, if they want to be, though it is not advisable to try
to hypnotise anyone who is
intoxicated with alcohol or high on drugs.
People who suffer from severe psychotic illnesses often do
not respond well to hypnosis
and should always consult their GP or medical consultant beforehand.
Grey matterz has worked with many people who were worried
that they might not be able to ‘let go’ and relax.
Hypnotherapy has been particularly helpful and effective if
you have trouble with letting go, winding down and relaxing.
By learning to go into the safe, controlled and totally relaxed
state of hypnosis, you will finally be able to relax, unwind
and let go.
Will I be asleep?
No. The therapist will be observing you at all times and although
you will be extremely relaxed and in a level of trance you
will not reach the sleep state.
Will I be asked to
divulge things or do things I don't wish to do?
No, absolutely not. Regardless of how deeply a person may
go into trance, they actually remain in full control of the
situation. You will be fully able to speak if you wish/need
to,
or not as the case may be.
In addition to the professional ethics Grey Matterz adheres
to, your subconscious mind protects you at all times and you
will never say or do anything under hypnosis that you do not
choose to.
Will you have any
control over my mind?
No, you are in complete control at all times. Indeed, a clinical
hypnotherapist acts only as the catalyst for helping you to
work things through yourself in your own mind, enabling you
to overcome old habits and behaviours and to deal with issues
in a more positive way.
How many sessions will I need
to have?
Grey Matterz assesses each person as an individual in order
to ensure the best possible outcome. Issues are often dealt
with over 2 sessions while other, more severe, situations
will require more. You will always be advised of this and
of the cost during your first consultation before any hypnosis
begins.
Is hypnotherapy for
children too?
• Are bedtimes a source of conflict for you and your
child?
• Does your child have difficulty getting to sleep from
nightmares or sleep disturbance?
• Is a fear or phobia affecting your child?
• Do you feel that your children are over-stimulated
or anxious?
If so, Grey Matterz can help!
Children respond fantastically well to hypnosis and they learn
self-hypnosis techniques quickly and enthusiastically.
You have probably notices the way in which your children enjoy
imaginative play, making
up stories in their heads and drawing vivid pictures from
their imagination. Children are uninhibited about using the
creativity of their subconscious minds and they tend to participate
naturally and skilfully in the visualisations Richard uses
in his approach to hypnotherapy.
Grey Matterz insists that a parent or guardian be
present
throughout every hypnotic session.
